What should someone expect as a care giver?

My daughter and her husband are care givers for an elderly woman and she lives in their home. The woman is her sister's mother in law. Her sister pays almost all of the rent on the house, but nothing on any utilities etc....My question is what is reasonable to ask for as far as days off, ( what time of the day should the day off begin and end?) When it is her day off the woman's son takes care of his mother at the house. They do not take her to their home. What would be reasonable to ask for? What about vacations etc....The son takes her for all doctor and dentist appointments. If I have overlooked anything please include. Hope someone can shed some light on this. I believe it is always better to cover possible problems ahead of time,so that all involved knows what to expect. I would appreciate lots of input on this . THANKS MUCH

The black three pronged cord is the power cord. One connects into the wall outlet it has the three metal things on it. The other cord is your video/sound outlet. connect the three coloured plug in things (red, white and yellow) into the corresponding colour holes in your vcr/dvd player if it is already connected into the tv. The yellow goes into the yellow, the white into thwe white and red into the red. Press the power button on the ps2 to make sure it is getting power. Then press input button on you remote onto your tv to video 2. If you see the ps2 start up screen you are done. If not get your dad or someone technologically wise to do it, hope it helps!

Alright, this is a little confusing so bare with me please.. I'm 15 years old, my parents are divorced, i live in Alabama with my mother, my father lives in Georgia. I spent my first year of college in an apartment with a girl who I had absolutely nothing in common with. They give you random roommate matches (which sucks) if you can't find anyone to stay with. It was sad, we never spoke and would just stay in our rooms all day unless we went out on our own. Unfortunately the rent is over $800 plus utilities. Normally you split that with your roommate. But in all honesty I do not want a roommate at all this year. I've made my own friends who I love in college, but I really don't want to live with another stranger. I heard in some cases that if your not able to find a roomie, the owners of the complex will not make you pay the entire rent and utilities cost, and you only pay the amount that you usually split. They don't want to kick anyone out of the apartments if they do not have another person to live with because they want the money. Will a student loan cover the costs of an apartment, books, and tuition?

I've got enough saved from years because I'm a late student. I'm only half into my second year & nearly 30. Anyway, I should be able to handle tuition the rest of this year and next year. Next year's college is going to be $1,000 a class. Dorm rooms are $600/$700 a month. So considering that much money for a confined space, I'd rather have an apartment at the same price. But being nearly 30, I get a lot of crap about being part of the boomerang generation. I don't want to have to hold down two jobs to get an apartment again. Just one part time job, I figure for food- gas- and utilities. And I don't have collateral either. Do I owe anything to my roommates?

First of all, I paid first and last month when I moved in. Second, my roommates let some douche bag sleep in my bed when he was drunk and high. I live in a area with a high mormon population and have became close with two. Lacey is extremely modest.. Hi, G C is right. It is the ongoing expense that you need to consider. Research first It is ok to want to be independent. but when you do leave, try not to leave on a bad note. Watch out for room mate situations.I would nt get involved in one. My kids tried that and ended up coming back home (they left on good terms) because the room mate ended up free loading and not paying their share. (AND this was a great friend that had a job). go figure. That is why its best to make sure you can swing it alone. Look at newspaper ads in areas you want to live. Ask. Contact a rental agency. If you do not have a credit history, they may not give u an apartment so prepare for that. But if some one does, they will want to know you have a way to pay. Then contact your utility companies. (phone, cable , internet, electric, etc . and ask them what the average cost would be for the amount you might use. (a way to save is if you already have a wireless lap top and go to places that have wi fi,, use the desktop at the library, just use ur cell phone not a land line, do with out tv, decide what you can really scrape by with out. as these things u may have taken for granted all cost money. Then of course food, cosmetics, cleaning products, etc Try to get an apartment that has heat included in the rent. Then consider how stable your job situation is. What if you got laid off of your job.? Would it be ok to return home? (thats why I say try to leave on good terms.) also will you need transportation ? do you own a car? consider insurance and repairs, etc... CAREFULLY write out a budget with EVERYTHING in it that you might need.. I know around my way a one bedroom heated goes for around 850- 950 a month. So it could well cost you around 2 thousand a month to live, easily. Dont plan on having a pet (extra expense) for food and vet bills, and dont let friends think they can come and eat your food , etc.. you will need every penny you have for your own expenses. and of course if you get sick (hope not) and have to stay out of work will you get paid? What if you go over your sick time? Also apartments usually want first and last months rent up front and some want a security deposit of perhaps 300 -500 dollars in case you break or damage something... SO its not easy thats why some may try to encourage you not to do it for awhile... Again if you do just dont leave in anger and have a back up plan if you run into trouble or your land lord asks you to move in case he or she needs the apartment for their own family member, sell the place and the new owner tells you you have to leave cuz he wants it for his own family. or raises the rent... ask how often rent increases are allowed under law, call your zoning board or town hall to find the right department.. its like tenants rights or something... so see there is a lot to it.. Let me first explain, that I got my computer during a time when I was very depressed with my life and wasn't thinking clearly.
